SAINT PATRICK Apostle of Ireland, born at Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland, in the year 387; died at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland, 17 March, 493. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and was the main instrument in GodÕs hands for the conversion of the Irish people to Christianity. He wrote many beautiful prayers, the most famous known as St. PatrickÕs Breastplate. His most famous book called Confessions and recognized by all modern scholars as written by St. Patrick, is a masterpiece of spiritual insight and autobiography. For more information on the life of St. Patrick go to New Advent.org and type in St. Patrick on their internal search engine. Above the central image is the Holy Spirit. In the outer frame are twenty bright blue circles that represent the Holy Rosary, which is a contemplative prayer on the life of Jesus and Mary while on earth and now their life of glory in heaven. In between some of the rosary beads in the outer edge of the window are seven stars that represents the angels that surround the throne of God mentioned in the book of revelations. Below the central image are two large circles. The circle on the left contains the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The circle on the right contains a three leaf clover, which traditions says that St. Patrick used to help explain the mystery of the Trinity to the Irish people. |
