MUSIC OF THE ANGELS

This sun catcher (window) is centered on the beautiful scene of the angels playing their musical instruments for the baby Jesus as he falls asleep in Mary’s arms. This tender image reflects the wonder the incarnation where Jesus the second person of the Blessed Trinity emptied himself of glory as God and took on a human nature and became one like us in every way but sin. His humanity and dependency as a baby is beautifully drawn in this scene.

Above the central image is a dove depicting the Holy Spirit who conceived Jesus in Mary’s womb and led him throughout his life. Above the dove is a cross flanked by four diamond shapes which represent the four cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. Jesus as the perfect man had and practiced these virtues perfectly. In the outer frame are twenty bright pastel blue

circles that represent the twenty mysteries of the rosary which is a contemplative prayer on the life of Jesus and Mary on earth and their glory now in heaven. Below the central image is an image of the sacred of the sacred heart of Jesus, which is a symbol of his burning human/divine love. The sacred heart is flanked by two images that represent the corporal works of mercy on the left and the spiritual works of mercy on the right. These works of mercy, which Jesus performed perfectly, are the realization of the beatitudes, which he gave us to live.
