The Church
Pentecost Round)
This window
depicts the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church as it is born at Pentecost
of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is depicted as the center/source of the
splendor of truth and love that animates the church and fills her with his
gifts and makes her fruitful.
At the center
of this window is the Holy Spirit who hovered above the waters in chaos and
darkness and formed the earth at the beginning of creation. Here He is forming The Church in the
splendor of truth, unity and love. Radiating outward from him are twelve
circles representing the twelve apostles as the foundation stones of the Church
with one circle having a white center representing Peter, the first pope. Radiating past them are twelve star like shapes (light
blue/red center) representing the angels, who are assigned to a special
ministry in the church. Radiating
past them are diamond shapes (some red, some light blue and others
orange to light blue representing the purifying fire of his divine love while
others represent the healing comfort on the divine comforter. Radiating past them are 24 red diamond
shapes each with a cross in it representing the martyrs. Radiating past them
are 24 small six sided shapes (red sides-yellow center) representing the unborn
and all children, whom the Holy Spirit and the Church hold in tender
concern. Radiating past them are
24-three circle intersecting shapes, each representing the divine life of the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that each of the Faithful share in. Radiating past
them are 24 star-like shapes with light blue centers representing the guardian
angels, who are assigned to care for each person. Radiating past them is a red
circle that represents Charity, which binds the Church in truth and unity. All
of these details are set on a royal blue background representing Mary as queen
and mother of the Church.
